New Music: Ceremony Shadows – Resistance
Though based in Portland, Oregon, the music of dark electronic trio Ceremony Shadows captures a distinctive European sensibility and a great amount of sexual frisson on their latest single, Resistance.
The song, which will feature on their upcoming album, feels very akin to the northern European sounds of acts like Suicidal Romance, Mechanical Moth, and Sara Noxx – influences that may stem from two of the band members having Polish and German backgrounds.
That quality is also evident in the track’s fusion of glacial and smoky vocal performances, underpinned by a production style that finds a myriad of subtle shades in the monochromatic tones of the hypnotic and sensual electronic arrangement. If you like Kite, Boy Harsher, and LEATHERS, then Resistance is most certainly for you.

Says the band about the track, “Resistance is always futile. What you resist persists. Trust that Resistance exists to push us to obliterate limitations. The greatest form of Resistance is ourselves. It’s in the fear that keeps us small, procrastination that hinders a goal, and the voice that says ‘I can’t.’ Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right. One can accomplish great things when Resistance is used as a tool.”
