New Music: Transmission Lost – She’s Electric
Partially inspired by a classic 1980s science fiction film, She’s Electric sees Houston’s Transmission Lost look at the flip side of fantasy.
The song also brings in elements of 1980s art rock and synthpop, leaning into a sound that often veers into the era when Europop ruled the airwaves. Some rock flourishes in the style of Blaqk Audio and William Control fly the flag for modern alternative sounds, making She’s Electric a rock banger that takes a fun approach to a serious message.
Says band leader Garret Ashton, “While writing this, the 1985 cult classic Weird Science came to mind; a film about two teenage boys who create their dream woman using technology.”

“But what of the woman who once dreamed of family, of motherhood, of nurturing life? We told her that wasn’t what we wanted. We pushed her toward a different path, and in doing so, we may have erased her altogether.”
“I often feel like we’re living in a world we didn’t mean to create—where connection is replaced by validation. She’s Electric captures that tension, wrapped in synths and fuzzed-out guitars.”
“I wrote this song with my bandmates in our Houston rehearsal space. Really the first song where we all had a lot of collective input on the direction and sound.”
