New Music: Marta — Leave the Lights feat. Tricky

Leave the Lights marks yet another epic collaboration between Marta and Tricky. The two again seem to function as each other’s muse, amplifying their respective talents.

Layering on a dark and dense industrial-style electronic underneath the finely balanced vocals, the duo create something that teases with a pop structure in the chorus and melody but on its own subversive terms.

But you can’t place Leave the Lights in any one neat genre, especially as the vocal performances bring a lot of soul and atmosphere to an industrial/EBM sound. Their strength, and the unique feel and mood of the arrangement, bode well for the upcoming Marta album.
