New Music: Band of Muses – Cinnamon

Cinnamon is the entrancing debut from Band of Muses, comprising Los Angeles musicians Penny-Scarlett and Daisy Rose.

It has a dreamlike, folk-tinged arrangement and honeyed vocals that invite positive comparisons with Still Corners and Beach House, but if Cinnamon is anything to go by, Band of Muses are offering us music that is something very different and very captivating.

The band identifies the Laurel Canyon music scene and 70s rock as prime influences, and that shines through in the emotive and personal lyrics, but also in how the arrangement goes into a Khruangbin-style psychedelic cosmic jam, smooth and sensual. Utter bliss.
