New Music: DETECTS – Catch-Up

Over its nine songs, MINUS – the new album from Mississippi-based DETECTS – serves up their personal take on post-punk in blistering style.

On Catch-Up, the fierce post-punk intro turns into something bleak, as the pain of the vocals and the glacial shards of the synths pierce even the hardest hearts. As with the previous single, Don’t Get Caught, there is a light tone in the production more akin to shoegaze, giving the song a presence that possesses the moonlit feel of The Chameleons and the dystopia of My Bloody Valentine.
