New Music: Frog – Je Ne Sais Pas
The brilliant and idiosyncratic Frog trail a tour and a new album with the leftfield indie rock of Je Ne Sais Pas.
Frog have come to the attention of Pitchfork, KEXP, and KCRW in recent times, and the wilfully wayward and highly enjoyable Je Ne Sais Pas points to why. It has a bit of a Lennon and McCartney beat to it in the melody and lyrics, but it also carries hints of the 70s era of singular singer/songwriters, even as Frog cite Buddy Holly as being an influence on the song, as well as the upcoming Frog for Sale album.

Oh, and that sweet, enchanting album artwork? a childhood image of Frog’s Daniel holding his brother Steve – the other half of Frog – as a baby. Frog for Sale is their eighth album, and Daniel Bateman says it is about “how money sometimes gets in the way of love.” It’s set for release on the 17th of April on Audio Antihero and can be pre-ordered in a digital edition on Bandcamp.

April also sees Frog pitch up in Brooklyn – on launch day no less – and then Philadelphia, Washington, Nashville, Chicago, Cleveland, and Boston to tie in with the album. For tour and album news, head to Facebook and Instagram. By the way, this September, they travel to this side of the Atlantic to play Oslo in Hackney.
