New Music: Reveal Party – Let Me Get Your Will
Reveal Party’s Let Me Get Your Will is a passionate cut from her new Prettiest Flower album, a story of transformation, yearning, and becoming yourself.
The arrangement comes from a similar place to the music of Black Brunswicker but fashions those minimal/maximal vistas into something more conventional, song-wise.
Even then, Let Me Get Your Will finds its own path, with the simultaneous presence of Midwest emo, lo-fi, and folk rock rising and falling with the story of the lyrics. Reveal Party sings of ‘Emily loving her, only occasionally’ – making you suspect that you need to dig under the surface of the song. Reveal Party’s name is Emily Nyhuus, and the album coincides with her journeying to find an outward expression of her gender identity.
It’s not a song without humour, though; reaching an emotional crescendo around the two-minute mark, Nyhuus opines that it may be a bit too much, the song’s folk influences suddenly becoming more present.
Says Nyhuus about Prettiest Flower, “As we enter album week, I’m thinking about the album I’ve always wanted to make. I was always singing as a kid. My dad loves telling the story of me humming through a snorkel while swimming on holidays, the whole beach hearing it. I used to put on performances with my teddies for my family.”
When I was 12, I fell in love with the piano. I had a cheap electric one in my room and a real one in my mom’s living room. I’d practice alone on the bad one until I felt ready to try the real thing. The very same summer I started playing piano, I discovered Naruto, and that soundtrack became some of the very first things I taught myself how to play. Soundtracks in general are where my love of motifs and recurring melodies started.
In my teens I fell into indie music deeply. Records like OK Computer, In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, Illinoise, The Glow, pt. 2, Twin Fantasy, Home, Like Noplace Is There, Just Got Back From The Discomfort – We’re Alright. I already knew I wanted to be a musician, but those records made it inevitable. I had to one day make something as urgent, cohesive and emotionally honest as the music that shaped me. Prettiest Flower is my attempt at that.
Prettiest Flower was released on the 29th of May, 2026 and is streaming on all major music platforms, including Spotify and SoundCloud – you can find other listening options right here. Be sure to connect with Reveal Party on Instagram and Facebook.
