New Music: 5TH PROJEKT – Shapeshifter (Live)

With their new EP due out next month, Toronto, Ontario quartet 5TH PROJEKT have shared the atmospheric alt-rocker Shapeshifter.

The track was recorded as live in London (Ontario) during their set at the Incorrect Thoughts live band series, and has a psychedelic-meets-doom quality that bridges the gap between 60s rock and more modern tones and textures.

Tara Rice’s mantra-like vocal delivery scents the air like incense, full of exotic and enticing aromas designed to chill the senses, as her bandmates counterpoint a tight percussion line with fuzzed-out guitars bordering on drone, as if designed to draw the listener into abandoning their worldly cares for a few minutes – or maybe longer.
