New Music: Andie Loui – Someone Else

Someone Else is one of the songs that immediately feels vintage and timeless, as Andie Loui treats us to an emotional tour de force.

Andie Loui – the musical project of producer and TV/film composer Andréa Louise Horstad – brings her experience to bear on Someone Else, a song laden with a passion and overwhelming feelings of emotion that invite positive comparisons with Highasakite.

It builds slowly, intimately, possessing a vulnerable quality. Soon though, as the message of the song becomes clearer, the vocals are ever more confident, and the arrangement becomes expressive and powerful.

Someone Else has an 80s power-ballad quality to it – a centrepiece for a rom-com or weepy drama. And I mean that as a compliment, because we listen to those often-iconic songs decades later.
