Minneapolis-based Daughter Of Dawn is the solo project of Emma Goldman Grey, previously known for their work with Malachi, Contentious, and Hive. A trans musician and activist residing in the Twin Cities, they say Juniper Boughs Collide Upon My Shores shows a different side to their music. Listen below to find out more.

Juniper Boughs Collide Upon My Shores feel like it operates beyond the normal parameters of rock, that’s for sure. The melody feels born of blackened metal and post-rock but is turned into something more personal and primal. An ambient pace is allied to an almost Gothic turn of musical phrase and a haunting vocal melody, making this a song that is bound to entrance those that love their music dark, intense, and full of meaning.

Grey reveals about the track, “This song is about falling in love while trans and during a pandemic and the uprisings. It is about loving someone so much that the beauty generated from that act is so wondrous that galaxies open before you. It is about love without judgment. Simple, striking, overwhelming, and godlike. Love that transcends worlds. It is about being seen exactly how you need to be seen, held how you need to be held, and witnessed for the magical creature that you are. It is about seeing that the whole world can exist within another person and within yourself.”
