New Music: Diana Vickers – Ice Cream

After successfully concentrating on stage, screen, and comedy for the best of the last decade, Diana Vickers‘ solo music career has once again exploded our ears with the purposefully naughty Ice Cream.

She’s back, and after hearing Ice Cream, we definitely missed her. Vickers throws some subtle and not-so-subtle innuendoes our way, making the intentions of the lyrics erotically clear, part Goldfrapp and part Marina.

The song is a party banger, one of those that is destined to be heard at Pride events well after the cycle of pop music normally runs its course. Firstly, because it’s insanely catchy, but Ice Cream also allows both the tongue-tied and confident to put some sassy words – and maybe something else – in their mouths.

“It’s time to melt, babes,” says Vickers. “I’m here to serve – and yes, I mean ice cream. Summers arrived, and I’m answering with sprinkles.”
