New Music: EYRE LLEW – Rainbow Bridge

BLOOM, the sophomore album from Nottingham alt rockers EYRE LLEW, comes after a time of great change for the band.

Maybe that ties into the sense of maturity and calm that gives Rainbow Bridge such an emotional heft; one that is pleasantly surprising and moving, considering its meditative nature. It looks at the loss of a beloved pet and how to deal not just with that, but grief in general and the role it plays in our lives, as the track offers a lesson in how to choose love and remembrance over pain and loss.

If you’re a fan of emotionally exposed aspects of The National and Frightened Rabbit and have a weakness for the expansive post-rock soundscapes of Sigur Rós, then add Rainbow Bridge and BLOOM to your must-hear list.

“Rather than dwelling in grief, the song sits in gratitude,” says the band about Rainbow Bridge. “It acknowledges loss, but frames it through warmth, memory, and the idea that love doesn’t disappear; it just changes shape. Rainbow Bridge is a soft tribute to the companionship, loyalty, and uncomplicated joy dogs give so freely, and how deeply they become part of our emotional landscape.”

That ties into the larger theme of the new album, BLOOM. It comes from their lived experiences: moving cities for love, holding someone through anxiety, and learning to find your way forward in one place, rather than always looking to the next achievement or target.

“It’s about the moment everything slowed down and we chose something real – love, home, and growth – instead of just motion,” they say. “It’s the sound of things finally taking root.”
