FRAGRANCE. looks back to last year’s Kintsugi album in the company of R. Missing, finding the inspiration for Sharon’s Dive.

Sharon Shy’s performance from the original song remains in place, haunting as if full of hurt, yet FRAGRANCE. (Matthieu Roche) himself is no longer on vocals; the song becomes radically revised emotionally as a result. It’s transformed from a duet that could have marked a mutual end into something that may offer either an escape or a new start.

Framing it with a more pop-led sound and structure, it becomes the dawn to the dusk of its antecedent. Roche has achieved something remarkable here, and it’s no surprise the song has been renamed, as the lyrics now emphasise, “we’ll rise and rise again.”

“Sharon’s Dive is a reimagined version of my song Intertwined, originally from my album Kintsugi,” says Roche. “After spending months with the original album, I felt the need to explore it differently. My upcoming album, Cuts of Kintsugi, is an extension; raw, spectral, and reassembled through another lens. A moody, feverish echo of what came before.”

The last few physical copies of Kintsugi in CD and vinyl format can be found on Bandcamp. For the latest news on Cuts of Kintsugi, be sure to head to Instagram and Facebook. Sharon’s Dive can be heard on Spotify and all major streaming platforms.
