UK duo Gold Spectacles say they marry their Baroque Pop sound with an interesting way to schedule releases. New single If I Die, I Don’t Mind is part of a release cycle that’s in tune with the lunar months!  You might moon over this band after hearing the track, so be warned!

80s art-pop is to the fore here, echoes of Prefab Sprout and Scritti Politti giving the song a cerebral but essentially fun quality. The chorus is incredibly catchy but very unusual, as they sing about wanting to ‘fly before they meet their maker’. There’s a lot going on in a track that on first listen seems an innocent diversion, meaning repeated listens to this curio are essential.

The duo had this to say about the song; “We wanted to write a song that embodies the adrenaline boost that comes as a result of making a life defining decision. As the chemicals kick in, your body goes into autopilot and anything can happen. In that moment, you are going to succeed or die trying.”
