Hailing from the busy but picturesque city of Utrecht in the Netherlands, quartet Jo Marches serve up a slice of deceptively delightful psych pop on new track Monsters – there’s a rather cool video to accompany the track as well.

The track takes some of the darker tones of acts like New Pharaohs before marrying them to the lighter, sunnier electronic sounds reminiscent of the legendary Saint Etienne.

Subtle hints of 60s beat, psych pop and classic indie mixing in with considerable flair into the more uneasy, uncertain atmosphere created by the lyrics and soft, siren-like vocals of Johanneke Kranendonk. That’s a difficult trick to pull off, but Monsters delivers in style with an easy, assured air of confidence.

Monsters can be streamed on Spotify and will feature to the band’s upcoming Day In Day Out, which is due out on 26th October – keep an eye on their Facebook and Twitter accounts for more details.
