New Music: Katharina Nuttall – Lethe

Swedish artist Katharina Nuttall’s Lethe is the first music to be released from the songwriter, musician and producer’s upcoming fourth solo studio album, The Garden. It’s a heady brew of influences, as you can hear below.

The LP, which she says is a concept album based on the “emotional flows and resurrection combining songs, instrumentals and spoken word,” promises to be quite a sonic experience, judging by Lethe.

The song has a literary and darkly romantic air, something to be expected, as the artist says she was inspired by “Charles Baudelaire, John Keats, and dirt.” Electronica with a twist, the song has a primal essence, giving the song a beating, fierce heart, making the arrangement a perfect backdrop for Nuttall’s vocals. Brooding, evocative, and imperious, she gives Lethe has a timeless, transcendent focal point that’s captivating in its unbridled emotion.
