New Music: Namaka – Golden Blinds

Pastel-hued pop with an analogue edge, there’s a sweetness and innocence to Golden Blinds by Namaka that belies the dark message of the lyrics.

An early glimpse into the band’s new album, Cloudspotting, this is indie-pop with a purpose, but the emphasis firmly remains on the pop side of that equation.

That gets you a chorus that is rather philosophical but also very memorable, brought to life by a vocal style reminiscent of Lætitia Sadier and Susanne Sundfør, bursting with quiet heartache.
