New Music Negative Shawdy – Same Room

When you’re related to Janelle Monae and Christina Veronica, the pressure is well and truly on when you make your own music. The good news is that Negative Shawdy certainly delivers the goods on new single Same Room.

Riffing off the intro of Tom’s Diner might seem risky, but using such a well-known track to launch into her own spin on RNB, hyperpop, and more than a hint of 90s UK Garage is a move that works incredibly well, blending the old and new with panache.

The track may feel aimed at the dancefloor, but the lyrics are aimed at the head and heart. You’re going to hear the summery vibes of Same Room coming out of car stereos and open windows a heck of a lot in the next few months.
