New Music: Pink Sky – Disenchantment

The music of Pink Sky came in the wake of great personal upheavals, where the fragility of existence made itself known to band members Angelica and Ryan. Their lives and love inform their music, though their hard-won contentment is not immediately obvious on Disenchantment.

As if channelling the bleak warmth of an emotional nuclear detonation, Disenchantment feels like that second of stillness before the world falls in on itself. The industrial rock of Nine Inch Nails might be the nearest reference point, but that doesn’t take into account the beguiling and fragile beauty the vocals bring into play here.

Disenchantment is the title track of Pink Sky’s current album, which came out on the 15^th of September and can be downloaded via the duo’s Bandcamp page. It is also streaming on Spotify and Apple Music.

They say of the album, “We started writing this material 2 years ago, but it really feels like it took 30-something years of life to make it. We’re very proud of this and can’t believe it made it to daylight, but also very glad to be on the other side of it because honestly, we thought it was going to bury us!”
