New Music: pssyclwz – petty af (Calling This Love)

pssyclwz describes themself as “a future ghostwriter who makes music & anti-social media” and they certainly subvert expectations on petty af (Calling This Love).

The arrangement has a sweet melancholy about it that would easily fit into the best of Chvrches and Chromatics. The vocals are often a pure expression of heartbreak but also a world weariness.

It’s the lyrics (oh, and the savage video) that skewer your mood and any reverie you find yourself drifting into. No punches go unpulled, no blushes are unspared, as pssyclwz takes us on a fierce and forensic breakdown of a failed relationship.

Says the artist, “petty af (Calling This Love) has the lyrics of a cathartic diss track contrasted by a dreamy synth to reflect the contradictory feelings of heartbreak.”
