New Music: Rozzie – Honestly

Honestly is the title track of the latest album from Chicago based singer-songwriter Rozzie. It’s got a jazz undercurrent, mainly in the keys and strings, that adds a 50s meets 70s musical spring to the step of this lively and emotionally intelligent song.

Rozzie describes it as something of a “Smooth Sunday morning vibe,” and the vocals bring a sense of saudade to the proceedings, but with a pop twist. It’s an approach that gives a wonderfully fresh and frank flavour to the reflective themes of the lyrics. If you like Fiona Apple and Everything but the Girl, you’ll need to hear Honestly.
