New Music: Sandmoon – Confessions

Beirut-based Sandmoon display a wonderful take on classic indie and dreampop sound on their new single, Confessions. Beneath its flowing tones lies something personal and profound.

The breathy vocals of singer-songwriter Sandra Arslanian – who lived for a time in Belgium, bring a Francophone ambience to the song – sit somewhere along the sounds of Lætitia Sadier and Jane Weaver.

Her voice finds a wonderful partner in the blend of lush strings and sharp synths that are powered along by a rhythm section that is understated but highly effective. In turn, these elements work well to amplify the vivid lyrics that see Arslanian reflect on the freedom that comes from casting off secrets. Fans of Stereolab, Cigarettes After Sex, and The Go-Betweens will love this song.

Confessions is out now via Putzi Productions and is streaming everywhere including Apple Music and Spotify. For other listening options and news on live appearances by Sandmoon, check out their Instagram page.
