New Music: Speed Therapy – Seizure

If experimental post-punk doesn’t already exist, then Chicago’s Speed Therapy can claim the crown for it with Seizure.

The band has revealed that acts including, IDLES, Lady Gaga, Joy Division, and Jockstrap were a formative influence on the song, and you can hear that in the arrangement especially.

Even as the vocals express a thrilling raw passion akin to Ian Curtis and Joe Talbot and work as a magnetic focal point for Seizure, that is matched by the fury and inventiveness of the blending of rock and electronica in the arrangement.

It gives me the same kind of involuntary shivers I get when listening to Atari Teenage Riot and Enter Shikari, music that is fierce and powerful, and you know, that’s as good as music gets.
