New Music: Surtsey – Limerence

St Louis, Missouri, quartet Surtsey may have been a going concern since 2009: Limerence shows a band at its creative and sonic peak.

Featuring on their Coast / Limerence EP, the track is like an album’s worth of experiences and emotions poured into five minutes of shape-shifting aural bliss that you’ll never tire of hearing.

Cascading harmonies and a weighty take on Americana are just two elements of the track that will leave you in a state of flux. Baffling in its inventiveness and awe-inducing in the sheer beauty of everything from the vocals to the feedback, Limerence is aptly named, but you can be sure you’ll never hit the third stage of that state of being, no matter how many times you listen to the song. Make sure you listen to Coast too, Limerence is far from being a one off!
