New Music: System Exclusive – Game of the Fool

Ari Blaisdell and Matt Jones are the duo behind System Exclusive. The Pasadena-based outfit, who are signed to Castle Face Records, make quite an impression with the analogue-sounding, punky electroclash vibes of Game of the Fool.

The song, which will feature on the band’s upcoming album, is a post-apocalyptic, post-punk electro bop. Ari Blaisdell’s siren-like vocals lure the listener into the doomed dance that is Game of the Fool, as the song references classic sounds and tropes in a bracing and inviting fashion. I can’t wait to hear the album in full!

Ari Blaisdell disclosed about Game of the Fool, “It’s definitely one of my favorite songs on the album despite it being about the cycle of abuse, and how hard it is to watch when someone you love has fallen into that cycle. A pretty sad song lyrically but with a dancy fun overtone, because life is like that, multiple opposing things at once.”
