New Music: The Lightning Year – The Needle

  • New Music: The Lightning Year - The Needle

South London band The Lightning Year have referred to themselves as being a ‘psychedelic rock band’ but on the basis on The Needle there is much more to them that that! The band cites groups like Glass Animals and Tame Impala as influences but on the evidence of this song their music is more anthemic and electronic in nature.

With the vocal harmonies, cool synth ambience, chiming guitars and driving beats; The Needle feels like it should be heard in a large venue, not your front room or a small pub.

A few more tracks like this and the band could help rehabilitate the phrase ‘stadium rock’ and make it suitable once again for polite company! Check out this link for more information on buying or streaming the track.
