A search on the blog will tell you how much we like Sweden’s ViVii. It’ll be no surprise to you then that we’ve fallen for the Swedish trio’s latest track, Rendezvous.
The song comes hot on the heels of Summer of 99, will feature on the band’s upcoming album, and sees Anders, Caroline, and Emil add new layers to their sound. It still retains the immaculate interplay of Emil and Caroline Jonsson’s vocals, and Anders Eckeborn sprinkles it with his studio magic, that’s for sure. But there’s an underlying groove, a sense of electronic melancholy – think Ionnalee and Röyksopp or Phoenix – that shows the band are refining and building on an already solid signature sound.
Speaking about Rendezvous, they said, “It brings us back to the mixtapes days. The feeling of pushing play and then entering into the world of whatever that song would give. Some songs would take us to our favourite places that no-one knew about, but we haven’t been back there for a long time, this song brings us right back to that same spot, hopefully it will take you on a trip as well.”
You can get details on listening to Rendezvous by checking out ViVii’s social media accounts, including Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Alternatively, you can click here to find out more. The trio’s sophomore album is due for release in the Spring of 2021 via Dumont Dumont.
