New Music: Foxxxy Mulder – Everything In Bloom
Foxxxy Mulder is Kori Hensell and David Kumler who, despite the physical distance between them – she’s in Fairbanks Alaska, he’s in Seattle – nevertheless come up with a very sleek and sophisticated electronic spin on the post-punk sound.
Everything in Bloom is the new single from the upcoming Kickstarter funded Heretic album which is due on 21st September.
Slow and sombre, the track takes its time to unwind its ethereal undertones, spiky synths and a rumbling bass, creating a suitably overcast ambience for the hazy vocals.
It invokes a real uneasiness both musically and lyrically; a sense of some eldritch horror being half-heard and half-observed, whilst others look away, unconcerned or helpless – either that or they’re willing devotees to our modern political Lovecrafts.
Heretic will be available via Bandcamp in a limited-edition vinyl (100 hand numbered copies) as well as a gold cassette format with fold-out inner sleeve. You can find out more about the release and the band over on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Their cover of Eyes Without a Face is rather cool as well!
