New Music: STORME – Back To Her

Back in August, we featured the rousing pop of Swedish-fronted duo STORME and their ‘immersive dream pop’ on the suitably regal Queen. They’re back again with a more personal yet political song, the environmentally-themed Back To Her.

The track opens with a gently strumming guitar and a summery melody before the sound of a gun being cocked takes things in a different direction. Wave after wave of quiet anger pervades the vocal performance and the lyrics, in an upfront and unapologetic manner. The arrangement expands, ebbs and flows as if in time with the rhythms of the planet, adding to the organic, powerful and very catchy feel to the song.

The duo had this to say about the background to the song’s lyrics: ”Back To Her was written in a quiet, secluded place out in the Swedish wilderness’’, explains lead singer, Amanda Liedberg.‘’It was inspired by how beautiful Mother Earth can really be, but also how critical our time is today as Earth is slowly dying’’
