New Music: Josefine – Let It Go

Originally from Sweden, LA-based Josefine is a graduate of the prestigious Rytmus Music High School in Stockholm. On listening to latest single Let It Go, she is well on the way to following alumni like Robyn, Tove Lo and Icona Pop to pop fame.

A pop/rock intro soon gives way to a song that is hook heavy in both the lyrics and arrangement. But it utilises them in a sensitive manner, keeping in mind the nature of the lyrics themselves. It’s avowedly Scandi in tone, but entwined with a very American, RNB sensibility empowers the listener without being overpowering.

Speaking about the song, Josefine says: “To be in a relationship is all amazing, romantic and spontaneous in the beginning, then comes that day when everything goes into routine and you start arguing about the most stupid and pointless things. It’s almost like you try to find something to fight about. So, you apologize and take the blame a lot for things that have nothing to do with you just so you can move past it and be fine. You just want to LET IT GO.”
