New Music: The Flower Cartel – My Cyanide

Danish dark pop outfit The Flower Cartel is helmed by a Danish producer, multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter known only as J.H. – very mysterious indeed. He shouldn’t hide for long, though, if he continues to make deliciously moody bops like My Cyanide.

My Cyanide, which J.H. says is about mental health, will the opening track on The Flower Cartel’s Dark Portraits debut long player. The track is dark and driving, but most of all, it is eminently danceable.

Think TR/ST and Mareux at their ‘after dark’ electro best, combined with New Order at their most poignant and yearning. Then, you’ll get a feel for the tempting fusion of melancholic vocals and wistful VNV Nation style arpeggios that gives My Cyanide an often sombre yet ultimately uplifting sound.
