New Music: country girl – field day

A sensory delight, field day by country girl brings back memories of summer days spent revelling in the sheer joy of being in love, and just loving life.

The song does skew towards dream pop, but that is given a stronger pastoral presence through the lilting flute and sunshine-filled guitar. While field day has a very nostalgic tone, something given added emphasis by the lightly-coloured vocals, that also lends it a sense of familiarity, as if you’re greeting an old friend after a long time apart.

Reveals the artist about the track, which features on their meet me at the fountain EP; “field day is the stolen glance behind the summer camp cabin; it’s the feral abandon of playing tag in the woods at night, the bright cold feeling on your skin when you jump in the lake, look back at your crush on the shore, and know this is your last chance before school starts again… ‘field day, catch sucka, i’ll race you there…’”
