New Music: Bouquet – Moon Was Made

Bouquet – Carolyn Pennypacker Riggs and Max Foreman – broke a decade-long silence with the welcome release of Hold On last month. They follow that up with the delights of Moon Was Made.

Rather like the previous single, Moon Was Made operates on similar musical terrain to Broadcast, as warm analogue sounds reminding the listener of the easy-going pop sounds of the 60s and 80s.

Pennypacker Riggs reveals more of her natural vocal range here, a folkish flavour to her golden tones, as the combination of male and female vocals offers up a soothing panacea of sound to the lyrics’ meditations on conviction and vulnerability. If you’re a fan of Broadcast, but also the likes of Stereolab or Beach House with a cosmic Carpenters sheen, Bouquet is the band for you.
