New Music: New Arcades – Dreamless

Though their recently released Through Desolation album features a slew of quality collabs with other electronic artists, Dreamless is a definite highlight for me.

New Arcades are Dean Canty and Adam Sullivan, a London-based duo who look to the 80s for the foundation of their music, but don’t hesitate – as on the new LP – to give that decade’s sound a modern spin.

On Dreamless, that shines through in how the Italo shadows in the synths and melody are intertwined with futurepop and rock, and the lyrics are more grounded than you’d expect from a track that is certain to appeal to synthwave and retrowave fans. If you like Xenturion Prime and The Birthday Massacre, the album is well worth a listen.
