New Music: Digital Dreams – 2003

Digital Dreams save the best for last on their new album, 97.7 DIGITAL DREAMS RADIO, with featured track 2003 being one of my favourites.

The Maryland-based outfit based their sounds within witch house, but as on 2003, and throughout the album’s seven songs, Digital Dreams glitch and glide into cloud rap and a highly digitised take on post-punk.

The vocals are pitched into a range that stays just shy of being overcome by distortion, and that actually amplifies the intensity of the vocal melody, as the song takes some brief but bruising diversions into bass-heavy hyperpop and techno. Be sure to check out the album, and be sure to play it loud.
