New Music: Fervents – A Letter

Things are certainly going to get better for Belgium’s Fervents as A Letter builds up to the release of the debut album.

A Letter has a strong hardcore punk and garage rock impression in the arrangement, with vocals akin to a call-to-arms. The latter is fitting, as the band have revealed that the track is about ‘being called to war by a country you no longer recognize,’ – something that reflects the direction of the world right now.

A mix of brute force, eloquence, and unbridled passion, the spirit and burning anger of A Letter will appeal to fans of Gouge Away, IDLES, and Title Fight. And if you like those bands, then Service For The Sick, the upcoming LP from Fervents, needs to be on your watch list.

States band member Ben Baillieux about the LP, “These songs are drawn from my own experience, from jobs that emptied me out, cities that never slow down, and the constant pressure to fit into a life that never really felt like mine. The record deals with the violence of everyday capitalism. Not the spectacular kind, but the quiet one: work, debt, consumption, isolation.”

Service For The Sick is out this October via Capitaine Records. Fervents hit the road at the end of March, with live dates including stop-offs in Ghent, Antwerp, and Brussels – head to Instagram for venue and ticket details.
