Darkwave-adjacent project Synthetic Mushdrum ramps up the tempo of the nocturnal, enthralling Fight The End.

Synthetic Mushdrum – Italian musician and DJ Piero Cocozza – adds tangible and tight EBM textures to the percussion and vocal phrasing throughout the song, amplifying the urgency and intensity of the lyrics, drawing their message to your attention.

Bari-based Cocozza’s club background can also be detected within Fight The End, so much so that imparting the urge to dance is always to the forefront, emphasising hard beats and the vocals that function as a chant of encouragement, imploring us to fight the end, no matter how things may seem.

For all that it leans into a club aesthetic, it works equally well outside that sphere, as Cocozza has underpinned the order to dance with a melody that is hooky and memorable, firing on all cylinders without pausing for breath.
