New Music: Seasurfer – Crazy

Crazy sees Hamburg outfit Seasurfer look at the disconnection from our surroundings caused by being always online, a receptacle for unfiltered information.

Opening with police sirens and a driving, dreamstate post-punk melody; the vocals soon emerge, adding a mournful presence to the track. Acting almost like Cassandra of Greek myth, we are warned of the dangers around us, aware that we are almost conditioned to not listen, as the internet – especially social media – acts as a Pandora’s Box for the digital age.

The overall effect is like being in a half-waking dream, one that places a jumble of thoughts and feelings within a framework we inhabit but don’t quite grasp consciously, meaning just out of reach; fitting as the lyrics of Crazy allude to humanity walking around like zombies due to information overload.

The song features on the trio’s latest EP, Angels, which is set to be joined by a second EP titled The Noise is ours in August. Angels can be streamed on Bandcamp and Spotify. The band is set to appear at German music festivals this August – connect with Seasurfer on Facebook or Instagram for all the latest gig and music news.
