New Music: The Tilt – A Dancing Song

A Dancing Song sees Florida-based experimental pop-rock outfit The Tilt bridge decades on their self-titled album.

It doesn’t hide its roots, and that’s what makes A Dancing Song such a brilliant and at times bafflingly creative experience. The vocals alone embrace the mournful tones of Morrissey and the 80s pop flair of Bryan Ferry, leaving you in two minds as to what kinds of dancing is at the centre of the lyrics.

The quartet is equally unlimited when it comes to underlining the vocals and lyrics: a bit of New Romantic flair and 00s indie anthems via some classic rock guitar licks, you wonder how they pull it all together, but they do. They’ll be an outlier in most music scenes, but I’d wager that they would also pick up fans within them, once their ever-changing palette gets heard.
