New Music: Silver Otto – Indescribable

From the gated drums to the coquettish chorus, Indescribable revels in the best pop moments of the 80s and early 90s.

New York based Silver Otto (TJ Sonnier) finds time to evoke the pop heyday of Madonna and Whitney, flirty and fun, the production blessed with a crisp and clear style reminiscent of Stargate and Max Martin. Indescribable was co-written, produced, and mixed by Louie Diller of HOLYCHILD fame, and Diller shows that his knack for penning songs that tick all the boxes for a pop hit, but still provide us with quite a few moments of frisson as he and Otto hit a perfect pop beat.

Silver Otto reveals about writing and recording Indescribable, “I wanted to make a song that more explicitly referenced True Blue era Madonna and the feeling of being in the car in the summer with the windows down just as the summer was dying. ‘When the time aligns’ stuck out and felt bizarre in its way of communicating. It reminded us of the early aughts Swedish super producers and how there would be words in the wrong place and vowel shapes that were warped beyond normal English pronunciation.”

Like a psychedelic beach day, I can’t tell the difference between your body, the car, the sand, the sky, and what I just thought about, and as the summer sinks back into the sky, I want to savor this mood.
