New Music: A Place To Bury Strangers – Losing Time

Ahead of their August/September tour of the UK and Ireland, A Place To Bury Strangers have dropped a video for Losing Time.

A deep cut from their Rare And Deadly album, it feels portentously different from the band’s mix of lo-fi and noise. Rather, while those elements are present, we are propelled towards an ambiguous future by a post-punk bass line. With vintage percussion and synths that seem slightly out of phase with reality, the vocals are given a suitably forlorn, unforgiving base.

“Losing Time tackles the uneasy truth that life keeps moving whether we’re ready for it or not,” the band has disclosed. “Set against our signature storm of noise and tension, it’s a song about change, mortality, and surrendering to the inevitable.⁠”

As for the air of uncertainty and suspense that drives the images within the video, it was directed by legendary horror movie director Travis Stevens, known for films like A Wounded Fawn and Jakob’s Wife.
