New Music: amilost – Afterthought (Acoustic Version)

Scandi-Scottish outfit amilost have revisited their March 2025 single, Afterthought, adding new light and meaning.

The cultural mix of amilost can be heard brightly and clearly on Afterthought as band members vocalist/producer Sigrid Zeiner-Gundersen and drummer/co-producer Ross Craib bring the windswept mysticism of Scottish folk music to bear on the Scandipop tones of the lyrics and piano melody.

Sonically, it doesn’t sound like anyone else, but it gave me the same involuntary shiver and tingle the music of Frida Sundemo invokes for me. The mood, the message as reworked here – it really moves me.  

“Afterthought is a song about that person you pretend to not be thinking about,” reveals the duo about the lyrics.

“It’s about the thoughts and scenarios you play out in your head, wondering if they feel the same, and hoping they do. It’s about that love with unfulfilled potential, the one that got away, the one who you used to know so well but became a stranger.”
