New Music: Fold – In the Goodness of Time

Maybe demagogues and their destructive ways are always present among us, but the portentous message of In the Goodness of Time by Fold still seems rather timely. But is an essential listen, nonetheless.

Fold bring trip-hop beats and a series of old-school samples from public service films, newsreels, and a speech by Dwight Eisenhower together on a track that is short, bittersweet, and offers an acutely sharp commentary on the world today.

New Music: Fold – In the Goodness of Time

At a time when the Doomsday Clock ticks ever closer to midnight, the Leeds-based Fold collective look to the past to remind us anew that for those in power, the song always remains the same – even when the tune is different. In the Goodness of Time is less a call to arms, more a call to peace, a salutary lament that is hopefully not lost in the uncertain fog of these unsettled times.

Fold play The Grayston Unity in Halifax on the 7th of March. In the Goodness of Time is available in a limited-edition vinyl format on Bandcamp, while the song can be heard on Spotify and YouTube Music.
