New Music: Immortal Wound – burnt out star

Brooklyn duo Immortal Wound are getting set for a new album and US tour in the coming months. To tie in with that, they’ve just dropped a Fortnite-style video for their latest single, burnt out star.

It’s not an easy track to categorise, as the psychedelic feel of the backmasked-sounding intro flows into something very different in terms of texture and mood.

You can hear a dissonant take on dreampop and shoegaze in the arrangement, while the vocals draw the track to and fro between a chilled vibe and sometimes unsettling sound. It’s an adventurous fusion, but one that works well both as a song and a mood piece. One for fans of Dean Blunt, bar italia, and Chanel Beads.
