With its dark, New Romantic flashes and driving electronic beat, Going To Berlin by Karolina Rose feels like it should in fact be coming out of that fair city. What do you think?
There’s a thrilling edge to the song, some of which is down to the way it takes inspiration from elements of early 80s music with brooding synths, pulsating rhythms and icy electronica.
Add in to that the repetitive and memorable chorus – perfect for singalongs in a club or your bedroom and Rose’s imperiously decadent voice, you have the perfect background for the lyrics which, she says, tell the story of ‘a woman who overcomes heartbreak by pursuing her ambitions and dreams, jet-setting the world’s best cities’.
Going To Berlin is out now, streaming on Spotify along with her previous releases Goodnight Mr Moon and Move With Me. You can find more details on how to access the track via other digital outlets by checking out her Facebook page.
