I have a real weakness for futurepop and dark electro, and Truth channels those two genres with considerable style and flair. One of the contradictions of futurepop is the way it takes upbeat, almost euphoric, leads and melodies and pairs them with dystopian – or in this case melancholic – lyrics. The hurt and loss embodied in the latter are softened by a vocal performance that feels born of both love and pain, fitting for a song that seems to have been forged in a fire of contradictions.
