New Music: mischa and the bear – Forever Ago
Dublin-based electronic outfit mischa and the bear are getting ready for the release of their debut EP, Even Unto The Next World, by sharing featured track Forever Ago.
The duo – producer mischa (Danny Rooney) and vocalist bear (Fírinne McIntyre) – describe the track as darker than previous songs, moving from synthpop into atmospheric and emotionally expressive territory.
It documents the gradual disintegration of a strong friendship, focusing on when you lose faith in them, your bond, and possibly yourself, a point when sadness, resentment, and self-recognition come to define that relationship.

Those moods and moments are framed by an arrangement that flirts with techno percussion, but the melody hints at a counterpoint to Blur’s Girls & Boys, but with an essence that fans of Crystal Castles and Ladytron will love.
Reveals bear about the lyrics, “Forever Ago is about being hurt by someone who once felt like a part of you, and knowing you probably hurt them too. It’s a snapshot of how I felt in that moment, written from a place of hurt and anger.”
Even Unto The Next World is set for release on the 8th of August and is now up for pre-order on Bandcamp. Forever Ago can be heard on Spotify and SoundCloud; for EP news and other streaming options, head to Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok.
