New Music: OSLO – Accidental Tourist

A sprawling and expansive take on post-punk, Accidental Tourist sees OLSO gear up for the release of their new EP, The Great Divide.

Accidental Tourist finds the band – Mattia Borrani, Kerry Wayne James, and Gabrial McNair – teaming up with Adrian Young on drums. His solid and expressive percussion gives weight and depth to the track, the second song the band ever wrote, and one that draws on lead singer and guitarist Borrani’s early days in Los Angeles after leaving Oakland.

Labelling Accidental Tourist post-punk seems reductive, however, because as much as that gives it many of its spectral tones, the harmonies and the voluminous rush of the guitars are more suitable for the wide-open spaces and emotions than dark corners and concealed hearts.

“Adrian joining us on the track gave us a chance to jam together, and the vibe was undeniable. From there, it was a simple ask; he was genuinely excited to bring his own flavor to the song,” says James about the track.
