New Music: Real Freaque – WDYTICF?

Real Freaque happily admit to the contrarian nature of WDYTICF? from their MAJESTY EP, but that contributes so much to its charm.

While it does veer off into shoegaze at times, it does so by harnessing a seaside pop melody evoking Magdalena Bay and stirring in the Nouvelle Vague cinematics of Broadcast. It doesn’t go where you expect, or maybe want, but the tripping, textual complexity is what gives the track a sense of life, of being alive.
