New Music: Son Lux – Prophecy

With their Tomorrows II album out on the 4^th of December via City Slang, Son Lux show another side to the sound of the trippy soul of Prophecy. You can watch the video for the song below.

Featured on the track is vocalist Nina Moffitt, who brings a real soul and gospel-infused presence to the proceedings. The track feels rooted in a time where the sacred and profane mixed easily. The tensions and talent of artists like James Brown and Prince are at play here, spiritual and sensual, with both those elements at ease in the vocals and arrangement. A musical departure it may be, but it’s a triumph too.
